John Hunter Manley was the son of Leonard & Grace Manley of Heswall, Cheshire. He was educated at Christ's hospital school, Horsham and on the outbreak of war he was working as a traffic manager with the Indian state railways. He was commissioned in to the I.A.R.O and attached to the 59th Scinde Rifles. He was killed in action in Mesopotamia 9-1-1917 and is buried in Amara war cemetery.
