Robert Johnson was born 19-11-1913 and served with the 11th battalion of the Durham Light Infantry at the fall of France. He was captured by the Germans at Vimy 22-5-1940 and became P.O.W Number 5823 at Stalag XXA at Thorn.He was released at the wars end and applied for the issue of his campaign medals in 1948 whilst living at 6 Gas company cottages, Framwellgate Durham & the award of his efficiency medal was published in army order 134 of 1946.
