Walter Fox was born in Weston, Harrogate & enlisted in Harrogate. He first landed in France 15-4-1915 serving with the 1/5th battalion & went to be be issued with the new six figure TF service number 200976. He was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 28-9-1916 & is buried in Mill road cemetery at Thiepval. He was 24 years of age at the time of his death & is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of Frank Wedgewood Fox & Eliza fox of Whinneyfield cottage, Weeton, Leeds.
