Alexander Newlands Boyd was born in 1917 & served with the R.A.M.C during WW2. He was living in Giffnock, Renfrewshire when he applied for the issue of his campaign medals in 1951 & had been awarded the efficiency medal in army order 196 of 1946. He died in Thornliebank, Renfrewshire 17-4-1962 & his widow went on to live in Newton Stewart.
The combination of campaign medals very strongly suggests service onboard hospital ships?
The WW2 Campaign medals are housed in two separate boxes of issue as the medal office initially forget to include the 1939-45 star & this was sent on later in a separate box with a covering letter of explanation & apology.
