The recipient served with the 1st battalion in the Boer war of 1899-1902 and first landed in France 14-8-1914 serving as the Regimental Serjeant Major of the 1st battalion. He was commissioned in to his own battalion 17-10-1914 and was taken prisoner of war 27-10-1914. He spent the rest of the war interned in Holland but returned to duty 24-2-1918.
GVF or better and complete with a postcard image taken at Crefeld P.O.W camp in 1915. Along with three other copy group photos that contain the recipient as part of the group. These were sourced via the regimental museum who confirmed that the original postcard image is that of the recipient. Along with other basic research details including copy MIC details.
