To- LT.COL.T.D.KIRKPATRICK
The recipient was born in County Antrim 25-12-1887 and was commissioned in to the Green Howards in 1877. He served as a Major with the Regiment during the Boer war of 1899-1902 and was dangerously wounded at Paardeberg 18-2-1900. He retired in 1905 but was recalled for service with the 6th battalion of the Devon regiment in India during WW1. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel 1-7-1916 and the British war medal is his sole medal entitlement for his services in WW1. He is however also entitled to a two clasp QSA for his services in the Boer war. He was pictured in the Sphere 14-4-1900 and a copy of this image is included with the medal.
