George Edward Ahearn Wade joined the 28th battalion of the London Regiment / Artists rifles 2-5-1917 & was commissioned in to the 17th battalion of the Rifle Brigade 7-7-1916. He was serving with the 9th battalion in France when he was originally listed as missing and wounded 2-5-1917. He was later to be confirmed as having been killed in action on this date. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Arras memorial & recorded by the CWGC as the late 23 year old son of G.E & E.A.Wade of Croydon, London. He had worked for Lloyds insurance brokers in London prior to enlisting & is commemorated & pictured in the company roll of honour.
