Lionel Henry Liptrap Carver was the son of the Rev.H.J.Carver & Blance Emma Carver of Melbury Abbas, Dorset. He was educated at St.Johns school, Leatherhead & Jesus college Cambridge. He was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 26-5-1918 serving with the 1st battalion of the Irish Guards. He was 35 years of age at the time of his death & is buried in Ayette British Cemtery in France. He has a good lengthy entry in the Marquis De Ruvignys roll of honour & is commemorated on a stained glass window at his old school.
