Albert Hillary from Tow Law, County Durham was born 12-3-1916 & enlisted in to the 9th battalion of the Durham Light Infantry 1-9-1939. He was taken prisoner of war at Mersa-matru in the Western desert 30-6-1942 and went on to be held at four different P.O.W camps in Italy before finally been held as POW no- 249242 at Stalag 357, Fallingbostel, Germany. He was released at the wars end and his efficiency meal was issued in army order 119 of 1946.
