Charles Campleman was born in Leeds & was one of the original members of the 15th service battalion of the West Yorkshire Regiment / Leeds Pals. He enlisted at The Pals camp & Colsterdale & first landed in Egypt with the battalion 6-12-1915. He was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 1-7-1916 on the first day of the battle of the Somme. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Thiepval memorial.
A very scarce & complete first day of the Somme casualty group to a very desirable pals battalion.
