Phillip William Harrington was the son of W.J & A.C. Harrington of St. Johns Wood, London. He was educated at Lynchmere school Eastbourne & Dover college. Before attending Wadham college Oxford. He was commissioned in to the 5th Worcester Regiment in 1915 but was attached to the 9th battalion when he was posted overseas to Mesopotamia. He was sadly killed in action near Kut in Mesopotamia 13-1-1917 & was 21 years of age at the time of his death. He is buried in Amara war cemetery & has a very good entry in the Marquis De Ruvigny's roll of honour volume three that includes a good image of the recipient.
