James Clancy from Limerick initially served overseas in WW1 with the Wiltshire regiment with service number 43823 & went on to serve with the Devon regiment with service number 31861 before transferring to the Leinster Regiment for service during the Malabar campaign of 1921-22. He applied for the issue of his IGS in 1925 whilst living at 4 Halls Bow, General Griffin Street, Limerick.
