James Howie Fraser was the son of Edward Cleather Fraser.C.M.G who was a member of the legislative council of Mauritius.He was commissioned in to the Gordon Highlanders in 1906 & first landed in France 7-10-1914 with the 2nd battalion & was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 29-10-1914 & was posthumously M.I.D in the London gazette 14-1-1915 for services in France in 1914. He was educated at both Rugby school & the RMC Sandhurst. He has a good entry in the Marquis de Ruvigny's roll of honour & the bond of sacrifice.
