Charles Noel Ridley was educated at both Trinity college, Glenalmond & Jesus college, Cambridge. He first landed in France 5-10-1914 was a Lieutenant with the 1/1st Northumberland Hussars Yeomanry. He was wounded in France 30-9-1915 whilst a captain with the same regiment & sadly died of wounds in France & Flanders 7-10-1915. He is buried in Longuenesse (St.Omer) cemetery & is recorded by the CWGC as the late 30 year old husband of Daphine Pringle (formerly Ridley) of Knorren, Brampton, Cumberland & the late son of John Hilton Ridley of Parkend, Simonburn, Northumberland.
