Daniel Greig from 80 Urquhart Road Aberdeen first landed in France 13-8-1914 serving as a Drummer with the 1st Gordon Highlanders. He was captured by the Germans and taken prisoner of war at the battle pf Le Cateau 26-8-1914 & spent his war in captivity at Dulmen, South west of Munster. He arrived back in England 3-2-1919 & continued to serve with the regiment. He was issued with a new seven figure number post WW1 & was awarded his LS&GC in army order 145 of 1923.
