James Carruthers was born in Edinburgh & enlisted in Glasgow. He first landed in France 23-11-1915 serving with the 15th service battalion of the Highland Light Infantry / 1st Glasgow pals. He sadly died of wounds in France & Flanders 8-7-1916 & is buried in Doullens communal cemetery extension No-1.
