William.T.Clarke from Worcester enlisted 5-8-1914 and first landed in France 31-3-1915 serving with the 1/2nd South Midland Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery. He was awarded the DCM in the London gazette 11-3-1918 with the following citation
For conspicuous gallantry & much excellent work as a telephone lineman. Often under circumstances of great personal danger. He on to be issued with the later six figure Territorial force service number 830403 & was discharged with a silver war badge due to sickness 19-2-1919.
