George Shemeld was born at Highfields, Yorkshire & served with the 1st K.R.R.C in South Africa during the Boer War. He first landed in France with his battalion 13-8-1914 & the award of the clasp to his 1914 star is confirmed on his MIC. He was discharged with a silver war badge as unfit for further service 9-12-1914 & died in Sheffield 1918.
