William.E.Theakstone from Burton Agnes near Driffield enlisted in to the 2nd Life Guards in Windsor 25-11-14. He was badly wounded in 1917 which resulted in the loss of his right arm & this was published in the war office casualty list dated 6-10-1917. He was discharged with a silver war badge due to his wounds 21-3-1918.
The pair, silver war badge & pair of dog tags are accompanied by a small paper French Flag day badge that is housed in a tattered paper envelope from the recipients family building firm on which the recipient has noted that he was given the flag on flag day 1915 from Princess Alice of Teck.
