Charles.M.Lovell from Burgess Hill first landed in France 22-12-1914 & went on to be awarded the DCM in the London gazette 14-1-1916 for services in France in 1915 with the HQ.Coy. Home Counties Division ASC.
The citation states
For conspicuous gallantry when taking up rations under continual shell fire to advanced headquarters of the division.
He later went on to serve with the regiment in Salonica & was discharged to the class Z army reserve at the wars end.
