Bernard Mason was one of the original members of the 16th service battalion of the Northumberland fusiliers. This battalion was a new army battalion that was raised as a pals battalion in Newcastle by the chamber of commerce & had the battalion title of the Newcastle commercials. He first landed in France 22-11-1915 & was discharged at the wars end.
