Alexander McDonald was born in Edinburgh & enlisted in Aberdeen. He first landed in France 18-1-1915 & was sadly killed in action on the first day of the battle of Loos 25-9-1915 serving with the 1st battalion of the Gordon Highlanders. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Menin Gate memorial at Ypres.
