Gilbert Kingsley Walker first landed in Egypt 29-12-15 serving with the Northumbrian Divisional Engineers. He was twice mentioned in despatches for services in Egypt 1-1-1916 & Salonica 21-7-1917. He was awarded the the MC in the Kings birthday honours list 4-6-1917 & went on to be discharged with a silver war badge due to ill health contracted on active service in 1919. He applied for the issue of his campaign medals in 1921 whilst living at Croft House, Birstall, Near Leeds / Batley. He was a former student of Leeds Grammar school & went on to be a director of Messers.J.Bagshaw Engineers of Batley.
