Joseph Elliott from Carlisle was born 1882 & enlisted in to the 11th service battalion of the Border Regiment / The Lonsdale battalion 27-10-1914. He first landed in France with the battalion 23-11-1915 & received gun shot wounds to both the left hip & the right shoulder on the Somme. He was discharged with a silver war badge due to these wounds 7-12-1916.
