Arthur Frank Caston was born in Norwich 1874 & was a shoemaker by trade when he enlisted in to the Royal Horse Artillery at Woolwich in 1892. He served with the RHA in South Africa from November of 1899 through to August of 1902 and was discharged to the reserve later the same year. He was recalled for service on the outbreak of the great war & first landed in France 5-10-1914. He was discharged in 1916 & the August to November clasp on the ribbon of his 1914 star is a later replacement.
