William Shayler served with the Mercantile Marine during WW1 & post war he enlisted in to the Royal Berkshire Regiment. Initially with service number 39983 & latterly with service number 5328889. His Mercantile Marine card confirms the issue of the pair to be sent to him whilst serving with the Berkshire Regiment & the WW1 army MIC card confirms the issue of the GSM & IGS only.
