Robert Dirkin Casson first landed in Gallipoli / The Balkans 11-7-1915 serving with the 6th service battalion of the Border Regiment. He was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 26-9-1916 & having no known grave he is commemorated on the Thiepval memorial. He was 24 years of age at the time of his death & was both born & enlisted in Kendal.
