Charles Bean was a Yorkshireman by birth and enlisted in to the Royal Navy age 20 in 1899. He served onboard HMS Cossack during the Somaliland campaign of 1902-1904 & was awarded his LS&GC in 1914.He spent most of his WW1 service onboard HMS Victorious & HMS Prince George. He was invalided to shore 27-9-1916 & sadly died at home 18-12-197. He is buried under CWGC headstone in Kensal Green cemetery, London.
