Clifford Hirst from Halifax, West Yorkshire enlisted in to the Territorial army 1-5-1939 & served with the 122nd field regiment of the Royal Artillery. He was captured by the Japanese at the fall of Singapore 15-2-1942 & was initially held at Changhi until April 1943 when he was shipped to Japan. He was released from captivity at the wars end & returned to be a carpet weaver in Halifax.
NEF/GVF & Complete with a superb group photograph taken at Kamiso POW camp Japan in 1944 which is named on the reverse with everybody identified by surname, AB64 army paybook, active service prayer book, issue certificate for the four campaign medals & the returned POW letter from the king and queen at Buckingham palace in its original postal envelope. Along with modern research that includes a copy of the recipients returned POW debrief questionnaire, POW roll details & other basic research.
