WW1 1914-15 Trio

Henry John Moore from Leeds originally enlisted in to the Suffolk regiment 20-6-1908 age 17 & was a coalminer from Colchester, Essex. He served in India with the Suffolk regiment & transferred to the 21st Lancers whilst in India. He first landed in theatre of war 5G.IV 5-9-1915 at Hafzis in the Asiatic theatre On 5 September 1915 at Hafiz Kor the 21st Lancers carried out a cavalry charge. During this charge Captain and Adjutant G. E. D. Learoyd of the 21st Lancers had his horse shot under him. When under close fire of the enemy, who were within a few yards, 1053 Private (Shoeing-Smith) Charles Hull rode up, took the officer up behind on his own horse and galloped away to safety, rescuing the officer from certain death at the hands of the tribesmen. Private Hull was awarded the Victoria Cross for his action The 21st Lancers never served in France during WW1 & as such trios to this unit are difficult to find. GVF & complete with MIC details.
