WW1 COLDSTREAM GUARDS FAMILY GROUP WITH CONSECUTIVE SERVICE NUMBERS, MM & TRIO & BROTHERS TRIO KIA 1914
A very nice family group to brothers who both served in the same regiment with consecutive service numbers.
1) GVR WW1 Military Medal (MM) & 1914-15 Trio

& 11013.PTE.J.T.B.ATKINS.C.GDS (Trio)
John Thomas.Berridge.Atkins from Exhall near Coventry enlisted in to the Coldstream Guards 10-8-1914 & first landed in France 26-11-1914 & served in France until he was wounded by gun shot to the left hand 26-12-1914. He then returned to the UK until 27-4-1915 when he returned to France until he was again evacuated to the UK 19-7-1915. He remained in the UK until 26-8-1916 when he was discharged with a silver war badge due to the wounds to his hand. He was awarded the MM for services in France in the London gazette 19-3-1918 & this stated he was born in Exhall. However the Coldstream guards enlistment books state that he was a coal miner living in Tibshelf, Derbyshire with his brother.
2) 1914-15 Trio
To- 11012.PTE.L.W.H.ATKINS.C.GDS
Lewis William Henry Atkins enlisted in to the Coldstream Guards with his brother 10-8-1914 and also first arrived in France 26-11-1914. He was killed in action in France & Flanders 22-12-1914 & was 20 years of age at the time of his death. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Le Touret memorial in France. Soldiers died in the great war states that he was born in Tibshelf, Derbyshire & enlisted in Nuneaton whilst living in Exhall, Coventry.
Both men ae the sons of Jerry & Harriett Atkins of Goodyears Road, Exhall, Coventry & L.W.H.Atkins has a short entry in De Rivigny's roll of honour.
Both groups are GVF or better & both recipients missed out on being entitled to the 1914 star by four days. Complete with MIC details, silver war badge details, CWGC details & SDGW details.
