William James Bottoms was born in Dalton in Furness & enlisted in Ulverston. He first landed in France 27-9-15 serving with the 8th battalion of the Royal Lancaster Regiment & was killed in action in France & Flanders 12-5-1917. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
