Bertie Longstaff enlisted in to the West Yorkshire Regiment 5-8-1914 & first landed in France 24-9-14 serving with the first battalion. He was wounded in the left hand 21-10-1914 & returned to England the following day to be admitted to the military hospital at Colchester. He was finally discharged with a silver war badge 5-2-1915 due to his wounds.
