William Alfred Armes was born in Seaforth, Liverpool & enlisted in to the Royal Marines 11-8-1914. He served with the Royal Marine Brigade at Dunkirk in 1914 & then spent the rest of his service at sea onboard HMS Roxburgh & HMS Curlew. He continued to serve post WW1 & was awarded the LS&GC in 1929 but sadly this is missing from the group. He was finally discharged in 1935 & went on to serve with the RM police.
