Walter Purdham was both born & enlisted in Workington & first landed in France 26-10-1914 serving with the 5th battalion of the Border Regiment. He sadly died of wounds in France & Flanders 28-5-1915 & is buried in Boulogne eastern cemetery. He is recorded by the CWGC as the late 23 year old son of Walter Purdham of 1a Lonsdale Street, Workington, Cumberland.
