Henry John Page was born in London 9-10-1869 & enlisted in to the Royal Marines in London 9-9-1887. He took part in the Witu campaign of 1890 & on the outbreak of WW1 he was serving onboard HMS Cressy. He was still onboard when the German submarine U29 sank HMS Cressy 22-9-1914 after first sinking HMS Abourkir & HMS hogue. In total 1500 men were lost with the sinking of the three ships and very few men survived. However Henry Page did indeed survive & remained with the R.M.LI for the duration of the war. He left the service in 1924 & died 10-5-1939 age 69.
