Richard Griffiths was born in Darlington in March 1878 & was living in Stockton on Tees when he enlisted in to the 3rd Militia battalion of the Green Howards 18-7-1895. He was called up for service with the 1st battalion in South Africa 14-12-1899 & on the 1939 register can be found living in Thornaby.
