The recipient served with the 1st K.O.S.B in Waziristan 1921-24 whilst attached to the railhead section at Bannu. He transferred to the 1st battalion of the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers in 1921 whilst in India & went on to be awarded his LS&GC in army order 79 of 1938.
