Norman Arthur Gant was born in Lithgow N.S.W 6-11-1922 & enlisted in to the citizens military forces 5-11-1941. He served with them until 22-12-1943 when he became a member of the Australian Imperial Force. He served in New Guinea 27-12-1941 to 5-2-1944 & in the South West Pacific area 16-3-45 to 10-1-1946. He was a member of the 41st Australian Landing Craft Company, Royal Australian Engineers & received a bullet wound to the leg 31-5-1945 in the Pacific. He was also a bit of a bad lad and in December 1944 he was convicted of the civil offence of common assault & evading his rail fair?.
