The recipient was born in Blackburn, Lancashire in 1909 & on the outbreak of WW2 he was a Skipper with the Royal Naval reserve living in Cottingham Near Hull & working on trawlers. He served as an officer with the Royal Naval Patrol service & was M.I.D for services in North Africa in the London gazette 16-3-1943 whilst serving onboard HM Trawler Lord Nuffield. He was again M.I.D in the London gazette 1-1-1945 & finally placed on the retired list in 1954. The original M.I.D certificate has been mounted on to card for framing & the group comes complete with copy London gazette details for both M.I.D & Copy service records.
