Thomas Mountford from Nantwich, Cheshire was born in 1868 & served with the 1st battalion of the Manchester Regiment 1891-1898 & was immediately recalled for service on the outbreak of the Boer War. He served in South Africa from November of 1899 through to June of 1902. When he returned to the UK & once again went on to the reserve. A less than common combination of clasps to the regiment.
