Harold Macleod Saunders was one of the original members of the 15th service battalion of the West Yorkshire Regiment / Leeds Pals. Hence the 15- prefixx to his service number. He was born in Stretford, Lancs & lived in Beaston Hill, Leeds. He first landed in Egypt with the battalion in December 1915 & went on to be be commissioned in to the 11th service battalion of the East Lancashire Regiment / Accrington pals. He was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 25-6-1918 serving with the Accrington pals & is buried in Le Grand Hasard military cemetery at Morbecque & is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of Reuben Thomas & Elizabeth Kate Saunders of 5 Woodville Grove, Leeds.
