John North Hewlett Brooke was commissioned in to the 8th battalion of the Liverpool Regiment / Liverpool Irish in 1914 & first landed in France with the battalion 1-5-1915. He went on to serve with the M.G.C prior to his transfer to the RFC in 1917. He became a member of the R.A.F on its formation in April 1918 & relinquished his commission in 1921. He was recalled from the reserve on the outbreak of war & on the 10th of June 1942 he was hit by a cricket ball whilst playing a match & collapsed & died. Sqn Leader brook was 45 years of age at the time of his death & is buried in Haresfield (St.Peters) churchyard. He was a resident of Fareham, Hampshire & was survived by both his wife & his parents.
