Robert Arthur was both born & enlisted in Newcastle upon Tyne & first arrived in France 20-4-1915 serving with the 6th battalion. He was wounded four times 17-5-1915, 18-3-1916, 27-7-1916 & 26-2-1917. He went on to serve with the 5th battalion & was serving with the 1st battalion when he was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 27-1-1918. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Arras memorial.
