Herbert Dixon enlisted in Workington, Cumbria & lived in Even Wood, County Durham. He first landed in France 26-10-1914 serving with the 5th battalion & sadly went on to die of wounds in France & Flanders 4-10-1915. He was 32 years of age at the time of his death & is buried in Houplines communal cemetery extension. He is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of Thomas & Jean Dixon of Workington, Cumberland & the late husband of Rose Dixon of 13 Shirley terrace, Even Wood, County Durham.
