Michael Connor was born in Galway Town, Ireland & enlisted in to the 3rd Dragoon Guards at Westminster 14-1-1858. He served with the regiment in Abyssinia 5-3-1868 to 31-5-1868. He transferred to the 18th Hussars the same year & went on to be awarded his LS&GC in 1876. He was discharged in 1881 after just over 23 years service.
The 3rd Dragoon Guards were the only British Cavalry unit to serve in the Abyssinia campaign & 214 medals were issued to the unit. SADLY SOMEONE HAS MADE AN ATTEMPT TO ERASE THE RECIPIENTS DETAILS FROM THE REVERSE OF THE ABYSINNIA MEDAL. BUT IT IS STILL STILL VISABLE WITH THE AID OF A GLASS & THE LS&GC IS 100% AS ISSUED.
