Andrew Neill was both born & lived in Mochrum, Wigtownshire & enlisted in Edinburgh. He was awarded the MM for services in France in the London gazette 9-7-1917 & sadly went on to be killed in action in France & Flanders 25-4-1918 age 27 whilst serving with C-coy of the 12th service battalion. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Tyne Cot memorial & is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of William & Janet Neill & also goes on to state that he was one of three brothers to make the supreme sacrifice in WW1.
