Frederick Charles Fielding served with the 2nd battalion of the Manchester Regiment in South Africa during the Boer war & first landed in France with the battalion 27-10-1914. He was sadly listed as missing presumed killed in action in France & Flanders 13-11-1914. He was born in Chorley, Lancs & enlisted in Bolton, Lancs. He is buried in Aval wood military cemetery at Vieux-Berquin & left a widow Jane Elizabeth Fielding living at 5 Brook Street in Bolton.
His MIC states that he is entitled to the August to November 1914 clasp to his 1914 star but sadly this is missing from the ribbon of the medal & has been replaced with a good quality modern replacement clasp.
