305284.Stoker 1st class Thomas Henry John Seaward was born in North Tawton, Devon 9-3-1882 & enlisted in to the Royal Navy in 1903. He simply served as Henry Seaward but his full name is confirmed on his Royal Navy service records. He died onboard HMS Nottingham 6-7-1915 & is buried in South Queensferry cemetery.
HMS Nottingham was involved in the battles of Heligoland Bight 28-8-1914 during which HMS Nottingham sank the SMS Mainz. She was also involved in the battle of Dogger Bank 23-1-1915 when she helped to sink the SMS Blucher.
The recipient was onboard for both of these actions having joined the ship in April of 1914.
