Francis John Brodigan from Drogheda County Meath was originally commissioned in to the Leinster Regiment in 1900 but never served overseas or had any active service with the regiment. His father was the late Colonel Francis Brodigan of the 28th foot. Who as a 16 year old boy had served in the Crimean war. He was a qualified pilot and took his aviators certificate in 1912. He first served overseas with the 1st battalion of the Gloucester Regiment 16-12-1914 and was sadly killed in action 9-5-1915 age 31. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Le Touret memorial & is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of The late Colonel Francis Brodigan & Alice Brodigan of Piltoun House Drogheda, County Meath.
